FOUR {SIMPLE} INGREDIENT RED SAUCE
An easy to make red sauce for just about anything you'd like to put it on including: pasta, pizza, rice and polenta. With only 4 ingredients, chances are you can make this today! Add your favorite toppings or leave it simple.

  1. Blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth.
  2. Transfer to a medium pot and bring to a boil.
  3. After the sauce reaches a boil, turn down and simmer until it reaches the thickness you like. For a typical pasta sauce consistency, about 15 minutes will do. If using the sauce for pizza, cool a little longer.
Recipe Notes

This sauce is so basic is is easy to adjust.  You can add extra sauteed veggies like onions, mushrooms, peppers, eggplant, zucchini and fennel.

It would also be great with your favorite (faux) meatball or sausage.

Adding a little splash of red wine at the end would intensify the flavor.

Hot pepper flakes would spice it up nicely.

If you are trying to get more veggies in, I've also added chopped spinach, carrots, and celery in the blender.  No one will be able to tell the difference...just ask my kids.  ;)

This sauce also freezes great so plan ahead and make a double batch.
